Adiela Akoo attends the professional training program for 140 African and Arab Publishers facilitated by SBA and the University of New York School of Professional Studies Centre for Publishing and Applied Liberal Arts.
The program was held in the gorgeous Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry building as a run-up to the 42nd edition of the Sharjah International Book Fair. The objective was to impart invaluable insights into the global best practices in the publishing industry by leveraging the expertise of renowned publishing experts, to nurture skills, as well as boost capabilities in the use of modern technologies for book marketing.
Captured in the image is the session by author, journalist, and podcaster Brendan Francis Newnam, who is Vice President of Special Projects at Pushkin Industries, with Adiela in attendance at the local mission with global vision. David Walter, Executive Director at Circana Books, led another session.

Adiela Akoo attends the 42nd Sharjah International Book Fair Publishers Conference.​

SIBF 2023 hosted 2033 publishers from 108 nations around the world. In my capacity as CEO of Quilled Ink Press, I'm thrilled to be counted among them and attend the 13th SIBF Publishers Conference which is part of SIBF where 1.5 million titles were showcased under the slogan, ‘We Speak Books’
​
With back-to-back networking meetings preceeded by an impressive array of 31 informative talks from industry top guns likes Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Sharjah Book Authority and former President of the International Publishing Association; Núria Cabutí Brull, CEO of Penguin Random House Grupo; Ian Chapman, Chief Executive and Publisher of Simon & Schuster UK and International; Cheolho Yoon, Chairman of the Korean Publishers Association, it has been a helpful learning curve.
